Xampp and OJS installation

At ISWU, we are planing on organizing a joint conference with YMAT in the coming July. The conference will be named: The 1st Islamic Conference on Peace and Tolerance “Strategies for Social Harmonization”. We will call for papers and hold a discussion related to the conference topic.

My job for this conference are making poster, brochure, and journal submission system. I write this post mainly to note my work step of Xampp and OJS installation and other stuffs.

To start Xampp:

sudo /opt/lampp/lampp start

OJS Installation

OJS comes with a web-based installation script that guides the system administrator through the installation process. Alternately, a command-line installation tool is available.

1. Download the OJS archive.

2. Decompress the OJS archive on your web server and place it in the desired location in your web documents tree:

tar -zxf ojs-2.*.tar.gz

mv ojs-* /var/www/myjournal

3. Make the following files and directories writable (i.e., using chown or chmod):

– config.inc.php (optional)

– public

– cache

– cache/t_cache

– cache/t_config

– cache/t_compile

– cache/_db

chmod 666 config.inc.php

chmod 777 public/ -R

chmod 777 cache/ -R

4. Open a web browser to the location of your OJS installation (e.g., http://www.mydomain.com/myjournal/) and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the install. See docs/README for more information on the installation process.
